Workshop Review: We had such a great time at our workshop, I was gifted it for my birthday and would recommend as a new activity to do for an occasion. Claire was incredibly patient, encouraging and knowledgable; She's a wonderful teacher! Having always been a little blown away by the way sunlight brings stained glass to life - filling a room with a shifting kaleidoscope of colour - I was lucky enough, 3 years ago to stumble upon a stained glass workshop at Highlands Park in Chelmsford.

I left that workshop feeling utterly inspired , as though I'd finally found the perfect outlet for work-life stresses and a creative niche I did not know I had been searching for. Within 24 hours I bought my first starter kit for making copper-foil stained glass. Copper foil is ideal for finer, more detailed pieces, versatile for 3D work and lighter designs. It gives a thinner, neater finish than traditional Leaded stained glass ( which is more suited to large, structural Panels and outdoor use).

What followed was, frankly, a bit of an obsession. I began experimenting with 2D pieces, 3D sculptures and panels - sometimes incorporating wood that family would kindly denote with the question, "what can you do with this bit?" Or I'd see an image and immediately think, "that would look brilliant in glass."

Recently my circumstances changed with work, I started wondering whether my future might lie more in glass than in nursing. After dedicating 34 years to the profession, perhaps it is finally time for a new chapter. So I am giving it my all - turning my passion for stained glass in to a viable business, and hopefully sharing a little joy and creativity it brings me, with others.
